Windham Millwork, Inc was the proud woodworking subcontractor who helped complete the Residence Inn By Marriott Watertown, MA. 108,000 SF, 6-story hotel with 150 spacious studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom suites with fully-equipped kitchens. Amenities include an indoor saltwater pool, 24/hour fitness center, meeting room, business center, full lobby/bar, a 24/7 sundries market, and covered drive-under entrance.
WMI's work can be seen as soon as you walk into the hotel lobby. The lobby has steel features that strongly reflects the historical significance of Arsenal Street. (Arsenal Street was once a vital hub for military manufacturing of tanks and large steel-framed structures for the Civil War, WWI and WWII.) The lobby utilized a lot of quarter cut American walnut, rift cut white oak, maple, plastic laminates, oriental strand board, custom metal pieces, glass and acrylic. Walnut benches and walnut cabinets can be located in the lobby and business center. The lobby also features an E-Counter made from walnut on black steel custom table legs. Plastic laminate coffee stations with OSB balanced well with the industrial feel of Arsenal Street. TV Wall niches, glass shelves and tile covered bases with blackened aluminum frames gives the lobby a unique and rustic style.
The front desk is a showpiece with die wall covered in tile decorative glass and wood cabinetry. Casework in the administration, serving, fitness, laundry and employee lounge were also manufactured and installed by Windham Millwork. WMI was responsible for the store fixtures, shelving and display cases to help the hotel host products for their guests. A solid wood wall and ceiling beams pop out at you at the meeting room along with the run of casework. A beautiful blackened steel bar with wood paneling really shows the craftsmanship of WMI in every way.
Windham Millwork has completed all styles of hotels and resorts throughout its 60 years. The Residence Inn By Marriott in Watertown, MA is one of the more unique lobbies WMI has fit out. The work was pays homage to such a historic area with stylish and unique industrial themed woodwork. We are proud to be a part of this incredible hotel and being a part of another successful project.
