Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of millwork drafting and engineering experience
- Knowledge of Cabinet Vision and Auto CAD
- Understanding of cabinet layout, millwork fabrication methods and materials
- Detail oriented, team player, well organized and able to prioritize to accomplish tasks and deadlines
- Analytical skills and attention to detail
- Must be a self motivated individual who can work efficiently without being supervised

Responsibilities
- Understand how to read architectural drawings
- Translate rough measures into working designs

CNC Operator
Windham Millwork is searching for a talented and experienced CNC machine operator for our computer numeric controlled (CNC) machines. You will be responsible for producing quality parts and tools specific to engineering drawings and client standards.
As the machine operator, the successful candidate will be a highly skilled professional, with excellent attention to detail and mechanical aptitude. In order to excel in this role, you will also have to possess in-depth knowledge of the latest equipment and techniques emerging in the industry.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification preferred.
- Certificate or diploma in engineering is an advantage.
- 3 years’ experience as a CNC machine operator, preferred.
- Ability to translate shop drawings and engineering drawings.
- Great attention to detail with a goal-driven attitude.
- Strong comprehension and analytical abilities.
- Good computer and mathematical skills.
Responsibilities
- Set-up and manage CNC machines to perform different jobs including drilling, grinding and milling.
- Translate engineering drawings and requirements into dimensions for production.
- Ensure the CNC machine operates in accordance with the guidelines of the company.
- Oversee the machines while they execute the tasks and make the necessary changes to produce improved results.
- Check machinery on a daily basis to guarantee functionality.
- Record all machine actions by completing production and quality logs.
- Provide timelines to clients.
- Communicate logistics issues that arise in the process of creating a part.
- Ensure that results of machining process align with client expectations.
- Conduct regular CNC machine assessments.

Finisher
The Finishing department at Windham Millwork, Inc. requires an employee to be familiar with all aspects finishing, as well as sanding and other preparation for finishing. In many cases, you will be teamed with another member of the finishing team to work in tandem to create a product of the highest quality in a manner that meets the project schedule. Working in the finish department requires a discriminating eye towards finish and stain quality. Quite often, the finisher is the final checkpoint for the quality of a project before it is shipped to the jobsite. It is therefore incumbent on the person in this position to be able to know what is expected, and to make sure that the final product meets or exceeds those expectations.
Functions and responsibilities:
- Must be familiar with the proper use of respiratory equipment.
- Must be able to carry out job functions while wearing respiratory equipment.
- Applying stain and finish coats using various methods.
- Sanding steps required to prepare components for finish.
- Must have knowledge of the various Architectural Woodwork Institute’s quality standards and finish systems.
- Work efficiently to reach scheduled completion dates.
- The ability to work with others as a project team
- You will be required to wear all required personal protective equipment.
- Follow all safety requirements.
- Reporting for work in a timely and reliable fashion.

Field Installer
Being part of the installation team is an exciting, ever changing challenge to you. You will be exposed to many different projects and situations, depending on our schedule of installed projects. As an installer, you are often the face of the company in the eyes of our customers. It is expected that all of our installers act in a manner consistent with the ideals of quality and value that have been part of Windham Millwork since 1957. Maintaining a harmonious relationship with our customer, as well as other trades on site is an important aspect of the job.
Functions and responsibilities:
- The installation of Architectural Millwork including, but not limited to, cabinets, counters, running trim and paneling, doors, misc. hardware, and other related materials incorporated within and around millwork.
- Travel and overnight stay throughout northern New England. Typically, travel is on a Monday through Friday basis, but occasionally may be on a weekend if the job requires. Windham Millwork pays lodging expenses and a meal allowance with the exception of prevailing wage projects. In that case, both lodging and meals are the responsibility of the employee.
- Working in the shop if required by management due to various workloads and construction schedules.
- Working overtime as a function of the project schedule.
- The ability to read and understand shop drawings and paperwork.
- Following all safety procedures in force, both in the field and in the shop per the directive of management and the Field Supervisor.
- Installers must hold and maintain a valid Maine driver’s license.
- Follow all company procedures as outlined in the company manual.
- Installers are expected to supply their own hand tools. All electric or battery powered tools will be supplied by Windham Millwork, Inc.
- Installers are required to be familiar with the Architectural Woodwork Institute’s Quality Standards.
- Reporting for work in a timely and reliable fashion.
- Maintaining a neat appearance at jobsites.
Desired Education:
- Minimum: High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred: A background in construction and experience in field installation of commercial millwork projects.

Production
The Production department at Windham Millwork, Inc. requires an employee to be familiar with all aspects of casework assembly, as well as lay-up and countertop fabrication. In many cases, you will process components that will be assembled to create a product of the highest quality in a manner that meets the project schedule. Working in the Production department requires a dedication to productivity and progression, while examining components for quality during processing. Quite often, the production department is a critical checkpoint for the quality of a project before it is shipped to the jobsite. It is therefore incumbent on every person in this department to be able to know what is acceptable, and to make sure that the final product meets or exceeds those expectations.
Responsibilities include:
- Must be familiar with the machinery involved to manufacture casework such as: panel saw, edge bander, point to point, drilling and dowel machinery, case clamp, and various hand tools.
- Moving, machining, processing components, and assembling casework.
- Lay up and operation of the cold press assembly line.
- Fabrication of countertops using cold press and contact cement methods.
- The ability to operate a fork lift is preferable. Authorized operators will be certified by the company.
- Understanding your operation and working efficiently to carry out your responsibilities.
- Working efficiently to reach scheduled completion dates.
- The ability to work with others as a production team
- You will be required to wear all required personal protective equipment.
- Follow all safety requirements.
- Reporting for work in a timely and reliable fashion.

Bench Carpenter
The Custom Millwork department at Windham Millwork, Inc. requires an employee to be familiar with all aspects of a custom woodworking project from reading shop drawings and layouts to preparing a project for the application of final finish. In many cases, you will be teamed with another member of the custom team to work in tandem to create a product of the highest quality in a manner that meets the project schedule.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Preferred 3+ years’ experience as a custom cabinetmaker in a manufacturing environment.
- The ability to read and understand shop drawings.
- The ability to read and understand Architectural and Shop Drawings.
- Understanding of products and methods used in millwork manufacturing.
- Understanding of equipment and tools used in millwork manufacturing.
- The ability to competently and safely operate all associated woodworking equipment and tools.
- The ability to measure and machine to tight tolerances.
- Understanding of the steps involved in fabrication of a project from layout to installation.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be detail oriented and well organized.
- Must have skill working in a team environment.
- Familiarity with general plant safety policies.
- The ability to fabricate components within a scheduled duration.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Fabrication of custom woodwork items using various tools and techniques.
- Work as part of a fabrication team.
- Review all layout and construction information prior to fabrication.
- Provide “ready to ship” products when complete.
- Inspect all items after finishing ensuring proper fit within scope of work.
- Interact with other departments involved in providing components to your work.
- Act as a mentor to fellow employees who look to you for advice.

- Develop a thorough working knowledge of the safe operation of all tools and machinery required to manufacture custom woodworking items including but not limited to:

- Various Hand Tools
- Setup and changing blades, bits, and other tooling on an as needed basis.
- Accurately cut and machine components to ensure proper fit and tolerance.
- Glue-up solid stock to width
- Be familiar with various grade requirements of the Architectural Woodwork Standards of Quality.
Desired Education:
- Minimum: High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred: 5 years experience in a custom woodwork environment.
